Meet Mythologie Elf: Jenni
Mythologie is a small, family-owned business, run by just 18 people, but it's those 18 who keep the wicks trimmed and the magic sparking.
In this new blog series, we want to introduce you to some of the wizards who keep Mythologie alight!
First up is Jenni, our Community Manager. If you've ever interacted with Mythologie on Facebook, chances are, you've chatted with Jenni. Let's find out a little bit more about her.
Name: Jenni.
Location: Texas, USA.
Job Title: Community Manager.
Best Part of Jenni's Job:
I work with an amazing team of elves—the online team and the warehouse—and I love how we work hard together to bring happiness to fantasy nerds (we are nerds too). I love to see our Facebook community get excited about what truly are the best candles ever.
Jenni's Favorite Candle:
This is one of those impossible questions, but if I must pick one it is Book of Kells. I once studied the history of the Book of Kells and it became a passion of mine. The Book of Kells candle perfectly conjures the history of the ancient Isles and the monks’ exquisite artistry with notes of worn leather, ink, old pages, and earthy lavender. It’s my husband’s favorite candle too.
Jenni Recommends:
Skellig by David Almond. I read this young adult fantasy novella in 2 days a few winters ago, mesmerized. A boy named Michael is struggling with his family’s recent move into an eerie new house, and worrying about his newborn sister who is very sick in the hospital. One day he wanders into his decrepit garage to find a strange creature - part owl, part angel - who needs help or it will not survive. This book is a captivating fable rich with myth, magical realism, and hope, and most highly recommended.
Interesting Fact about Jenni:
I LOVE animals, especially cats, dogs, and birds. Whenever I see a stray cat or dog in our neighborhood I always say to my husband, “There is our new pet!” He does not reply. We currently have 3 cats:
Milo is 16 years old. My friend found him under her backyard shed when he was just a few weeks old. My husband and I had to learn to do everything a mama cat would do and it was totally worth it. Milo is our sweetest cat, and a daddy’s boy.
Reuben is 5 years old. We saw him and his sister trotting down the street. We called to them and they walked straight into our backyard. At the time we couldn’t keep both, so we gave Reuben’s sister to an Irish woman who named her Samhain. Reuben is named after a character in one of my favorite books, Peace Like a River by Leif Enger. Reuben is our weirdest cat, and he shares his affection equally.
Jasmine is 1 ½ years old. Reuben is sweet, but like I said he’s weird too, and Milo never plays with him. Reuben needed a playmate so badly. We prayed for just the right kitten and I saw Jasmine’s photo in our neighborhood Facebook group and said, “That’s the one!” We picked her up that day. Jasmine is our funniest cat, and a mama’s girl.
