I know once your candles arrive, you can't wait to burn them, but before you do - there are definitely some key tips we have for creating the ultimate atmospheric experience by burning your candles effectively and safely.

Trim your wick before lighting

When you receive your candle, make sure to trim your wick to 1/8 - 1/2" using a wick trimmer or nail clippers (works great for wooden wicks!)

Place your candle on a heat-safe surface

Always remove excess carbon build-up to avoid smoke. Place your candle on a heat-safe surface such as a candle holder. Place away from any nearby objects such as lamps, books, paper, drapes etc.

Watch your flame height

With a wooden wick, you want to see the flame about 1-2" high. If it's higher or smoking, extinguish the flame and trim the wick before lighting again. For our cotton wicks, never let the flame become bigger than 3/4 - 1".

Create a 'melt pool' on your first burn

Wax has a memory! On your first burn, it's important to burn the candle until a melt pool reaches the edges of the vessel to avoid the wax tunnelling. This will take approximately 3-4 hours on our 10oz candles and 1 hour on our 2oz candles.

Remember to observe

Our wooden wicks are made from completely natural wood and each one has its own individual characteristics! This means you need to observe each candle carefully to make sure the wick is behaving properly. Always trim your wick before the next burn.

  • Do not burn our 10oz candles for more than 4 hours at a time and do not burn our 2oz candles for more than 2 hours at a time.
  • Keep out of reach or children and pets.
  • Never burn a candle all the way down! For a margin of safety, discontinue burning when a 1/2" of wax remains in the vessel.
  • Never leave a candle unattended.

We wish you the most magical, immersive experience when burning our candles!
